Douglas E. Wessinger
Doug Wessinger is a partner of Ingwersen & Taylor, LLP, where he provides legal and tax planning for a variety of clients.
As a former Internal Revenue Service attorney, Mr. Wessinger is familiar with all aspects of tax controversies. His background and experience provide unique insight into both the technical and practical sides of dealing with IRS rules and procedures. He has represented a number of clients in matters before the IRS and U.S. Tax Court.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wessinger was the senior estate tax attorney with the IRS’s Estate and Gift Tax Examination Group for the Georgia district. His duties ranged from auditing estate and gift tax returns to advising on litigation matters.
Mr. Wessinger is active in the State Bar of Georgia. He is a member of the Estate Planning and Probate and Tax Law sections of the Atlanta Bar Association and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
A native Georgian, Mr. Wessinger graduated from the University of West Georgia. He later attended the University of Georgia School of Law where he received his J.D. cum laude in 1983.
Mr. Wessinger frequently speaks to civic groups regarding estate tax matters. He presented “Practitioner’s Point of View on Family Limited Partnerships” at a joint meeting of IRS estate tax attorneys and group managers from the states of Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.
